What’s a class at
Calgary Sewing School like?
Vibe
Your instructor is a skilled, experienced, warm and wacky lady who loves people and sewing. The teaching is intuitive and casual, and you will be amazed by how much you can learn in a short time. The environment is fun and inclusive, with people of every kind being welcome.
One-Off Classes
In my experience as a busy mom, committing to a series of weeknights or Saturday mornings over several weeks can be hard. Things come up and classes get missed, leaving you with gaps in your learning and less value for your money.
Under our One-Off model, you carve out an intentional day (sometimes 2) away from your regular life.
One and done… until you come back for another!
Venues
Calgary Sewing School is nomadic!
This means that we do not use a storefront or consistent studio space for classes, but rather POP UP in cool venues around the city.
Examples include: Inglewood Bird Sanctuary, Fort Calgary, breweries, and others.
All of our venues are wheelchair accessible.
Got an idea for a venue with tables, chairs, and lots of electrical plugs?

Fabric & Other Supplies
Two pricing options give you the choice to buy your own supplies, or to have your supplies (fabric, thread, elastic/zippers/buttons etc) purchased for you.
BYO Supplies: A comprehensive shopping list will be provided after registration so that confusion and guesswork are not on the menu.
All Inclusive Price: Just come! (Note that fabric colours/designs will be limited with this option)
Tools like scissors, seam rippers, rulers, tape measures and pins will be at the venue waiting for you to use.
No need to bring your own.
Sewing Machines
If you don’t have a sewing machine, fear not! You are welcome to learn on a CSS machine, at no extra charge, just indicate this on your registration.
If you do have a sewing machine of your own, bring it to class to learn on! That way, you can confidently continue your sewing journey at home.
Before class, please make sure your sewing machine is in good working order. Not sure?
**Book a machine diagnostic by emailing hello@calgarysewingschool.com.
Let’s Do Lunch
CSS classes are meant to be a beautiful way to spend some time on yourself. That is why our classes always come with professionally catered lunches, beverages, and sometimes extra surprise goodies, too!
Every effort is made by our partner caterers to accommodate dietary restrictions.
The Perfect Gift
We all know someone who has a sewing machine collecting dust in a closet somewhere. “One day I’ll learn how to use that thing” they say. Today is the day!
Gifting a CSS class to a loved one could be the push they need to unlock the creativity and joy that sewing can bring.
