Learn techniques that extend your clothing's lifespan
Discover ways to turn something old into something new and creative, without adding to the problem
CAUTION: Mending and upcycling can be extremely addictive! We make no apologies.
Your instructor will lead you through key skills like:
Reinforcing weak or ripped seams
Repairing tears
Darning
Hemming sleeves and pant legs

Kids’ Sewing Camp
Calling all future fashion designers, aged 10-14!!!
Learn to sew (or build on what you know) from an experienced, enthusiastic and FUN sewing teacher. During this 5-day workshop, you will get comfortable with the sewing machine AND hand sewing, and learn fabric types, pattern layout, cutting, and sewing techniques that can take you far in the wonderful and creative world of sewing!
Make projects like: pyjama shorts, stuffed animals, bags, scrunchies, and more.
Camp runs 9am to 4pm for the 5 days. Approximate schedule is as follows:
9-10:30: Introduction to new concepts, pattern layout, cutting
10:30-11: Snack & movement break, games/other activities
11-12:30: Machine Sewing
12:30-1:15: Lunch
1:15-2:30: Hand Sewing/Crafts
2:30-3: Snack & movement break, games/other activities
3-4: Machine Sewing
Since many hours of machine sewing can be too much for most kids (and grown-ups!), students will cycle between different types of sewing and sewing-related activities, like friendship bracelets, hand sewing, finger knitting, and other fun crafty things! Students will also be given plenty of opportunities for physical activity to keep their bodies healthy and their focus sharp.
One of the things that makes this camp distinct from others, is that the curriculum is created and delivered by a CERTIFICATED PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHER, so you can rest assured that your child will be safe, cared for, stimulated, and engaged the entire time.
Price: $425 per session (5 full days 9am to 4pm) or
$800 for two kids - select "Friends/Siblings Bundle" at checkout!
***ALL MATERIALS ARE INCLUDED!!!*** You don't need to worry about a thing.
Includes fabric, thread, notions, tools, equipment, and the use of a sewing machine for the week. HOWEVER: If you have a sewing machine at home, it is recommended that you bring it so that your child can learn and get comfortable on the one your child will continue to use. Student sewing machines can be kept securely at the venue in a locked room for the duration of the week. Please make sure they are in good working order before class begins. Not sure? You can book a Machine Diagnostic with Catherine - email hello@calgarysewingschool.com for more info.
